SpendBox Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026. SpendBox is a local-first personal money journal for iOS and Android, with optional online sync.
Data retention and deletion summary
- Local-only data stays on the user's device until the user deletes entries, clears app data, removes local backup files, or uninstalls the app.
- Synced account data is kept while the account is active so SpendBox can provide optional online sync and account recovery flows.
- Signed-in users can delete their account from Settings > Account. After confirmation, SpendBox permanently deletes the account and synced SpendBox data from active systems.
- User-specific parser feedback, private preferences, synced expenses, synced journals, commitments, receipt metadata, and synced receipt files linked to the account are deleted with account deletion where they are associated with that account.
- Aggregated or sanitized shared parser rules may remain after account deletion because they do not contain raw private entries or personal account identifiers.
- Client diagnostic logs are kept only as long as needed for troubleshooting and service reliability, usually up to 90 days unless a longer period is required for security, abuse prevention, or legal reasons.
- Optional feedback messages may be kept until reviewed or resolved, and are normally retained for up to 24 months.
- Platform purchase records for optional in-app support are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play and may be retained by those platforms under their own policies. SpendBox does not store full payment card details.
How users can delete data
- To delete synced account data: sign in, open Settings > Account, choose Delete account, and confirm the deletion flow.
- To delete local-only data: delete individual records in the app where available, remove local backup files, clear the app's local storage from the device settings, or uninstall the app.
- To stop future online syncing: switch to Private offline mode. Data already synced online remains stored until the account deletion flow is completed.
- If a user cannot access the app, they can contact SpendBox support using the support link on this website or the app store listing and request help with account deletion.
Information SpendBox may collect
SpendBox may collect sign-in identity details, saved expenses, commitments, card nicknames, receipt metadata and images, optional journal entries, app preferences, parser learning signals, money insight feedback, optional support feedback, platform purchase metadata, and diagnostic events.
Privacy-first design
SpendBox saves entries locally first. Private offline mode keeps data on the device. Online sync uploads private records only after sign-in and sync is enabled.
